What are you training for?

*The box will be closed this upcoming weekend for a L1 cert.  Classes will be held down the track on Saturday and Sunday.  There will be no intro class on Saturday but feel free to bring a friend to the track either day.  Saturday classes will be at 9am,10am and 11am and will include the mile run test and a short wod after.  Classes will be held at 10am and 11am on Sunday Funday.*

Each of you come in, day in and day out, and work your buns off at CFS.  But, for what?  Make your training mean something.  Why not write the check and sign up for a local competition?

In doing so, you are going to be held accountable, not only by your self but by everyone you let know you are participating in the competition.  This will do wonders for your training.

If you want to get better, put your self out there.  Step out of your comfort zone.  Even if you come in last, who cares?  At the end of the day you are only competing with yourself.  I personally sign up for every competition I possibly can because it keeps me on track, it makes me a better, more focused athlete.  If I didn’t, I wouldn’t train as hard to prepare.  You would find me at Stats every night slugging bears and hitting up Pan Asia on the way home (Brian Boyson).

To add to that, the workouts at these competitions are programmed by someone else and if there is one I don’t want to do I can’t just skip it like I can a class.  These competitions force me to do the things I suck at.  Knowing this, going in to future competitions, it forces me to focus my training on my weaknesses.

Scared?  That’s normal.  Don’t worry, it’s like any other day at the gym.  These competitions are friendly and everyone is very supportive.  It’s a great way to bond with people from the box as well as folks in the greater CrossFit community.  Still not convinced?  Well best part is,  you can do one in the comfort of your own box.   Our Garage Games event (11/10 -11/11)  is available to the broader community but we put on this event especially to get all of you involved.  We even have a scaled division that we created with each and everyone of you in mind, we encourage everyone to sign up!  Take a look at the skill requirements here.  If you are interested but unsure which division to sign up for ask your coaches for some insight.

Registration starts Friday at noon and will be sure to sell out in just a few days.  Click here to write the check now and reap the benefits later.   Want to sit this one but be a part of the action?  Volunteer!  We are going to need plenty of judges and extra hands this weekend.  email [email protected] if you would like to lend a helping hand for one or both days.
